Reds fight back from behind to cruise past Motors

A dominating display of football elegance saw Workington Reds come from behind to hammer Vauxhall Motors 3-1.
Fielding a young side, boss Darren Edmondson said it would be a travesty is his side had not taken all three points.
Super sub Jordan Connerton was the hero, scoring twice in the last 20 minutes to condemn the Motormen to defeat.
Gareth Arnison netted the other as Workington’s stranglehold over Carl Macauley’s men continued.
Reds have beaten Vauxhall in each of the last five clashes, and the latest victory sees Workington move up to 10th – two points off the play-offs after six matches.
Edmondson hailed his side’s stunning performance, and said: “With a bit more clinical finishing we could have been further ahead, which would have been deserved.
“We were more than comfortable, and played some beautiful football.
“Not to win would have been a travesty because we were so comfortable.
“It was a great performance from numbers one to 11.”
Despite the impressive performances of loan stars Andre da Costa, James Bolton and Will Vaulks, it was two regulars who came in for special praise.
Strikers Jonny Wright and Gareth Arnison have been mainstays of Workington’s starting XI for the last few seasons, and have started this year brightly.
Arnison is one of the league’s top scorers with six goals, and Wright is back to his best following two years of injury problems.
Edmondson said: “When Jonny is fully fit it helps Gareth.
“They are a great combination, and have started the season on fire.
“We are producing some impressive performances and having our strikers hit the ground running has definitely helped.”
