Reds boss hands out warning to league rivals

Darren Edmondson insisted it’s only a matter of time before his Workington Reds side issue a hiding to their Conference North rivals.
Workington moved to ninth following another solid display against Droylsden.
Winning 2-1, Reds have now won seven points from the last nine on offer, but haven’t scored more than twice in 11 outings.
Will Vaulks and Jonny Wright scored the second- half goals that turned Workington’s fortunes around after going behind in the first half.
Edmondson said: “It wasn’t always pretty, but it was vital we picked up three points and carried on our good run.
“The performance was more comfortable than 2-1, and we had the chances to make it more emphatic.
“We owe someone a right good hiding because our performances in the final third have been good. We just need to put the ball in the onion bag, and we have the players capable of doing that.
“When it finally clicks one day, someone will be beaten heavily. We have three strikers in form, and creating a number of great chances every game.”
Gari Rowntree enjoyed a great game at left back, as Workington dominated Droylsden.
Supporting the attack and defending well, Rowntree put in the perfect cross for Wright to head home the winner on 77 minutes.
Edmondson said: “Gari did well, and it was a great ball in for Jonny to score the winner.
“It wasn’t always easy for us to get the ball down and play, but we did what was needed to secure our seventh point from a possible nine.”
The defeat dropped Droylsden into the relegation zone, and sent Workington to within three points of the play-offs.
