The 23-year-old has spoken with boss Darren Edmondson about a return, and trained for the first time last night.

McLuckie will play for the reserves against Ambleside at Borough Park tonight (7pm ko), but said any move back to first team action would be on a pay-as-you-play deal.

The energetic midfielder has recently taken a new job, with the hours not allowing him to turn out every week for Workington.

He said: “Nothing is guaranteed. If I do come back it will be a pay-as-you-play deal because I cannot be available for every game.

“I do want to come back. I enjoy playing for Workington, and know I can still offer the team something, even if it is on a part-time basis.

“I spoke with Darren last week, and took part in training for the first time on Tuesday.

“It was nice to get back playing, but nothing is sorted. I haven’t signed anything.”

McLuckie will continue to train with Workington, and said further talks with Edmondson were needed to sort out the situation.
