Workington Reds striker out for up to six weeks

Workington Reds could be without striker Jonny Wright for up to six weeks after an X-ray revealed he had suffered a broken toe.

He picked up the injury in the first-half of Reds’ FA Cup tie against Harrogate at Borough Park, sitting out last week’s replay, which the Cumbrians lost in a penalty shoot-out.

He was named in the squad for Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Telford but did not appear off the bench, and an X-ray has confirmed that he will be sidelined for at least a month.

One small consolation for Wright, who has netted four times this season, is that he will not miss out this weekend, as Reds have no match.

They next play on Saturday week at Tamworth.
