Wigton athlete Abbie Hetherington's good start to the indoor track season continued at the weekend's Husky Track Classic at Seattle.

The US-based middle-distance runner raced home to claim victory in the 800m final in a time of two minutes and seven seconds, knocking two seconds off her previous indoor personal best in the process.

Abbie and her Oklahoma State University team-mates will next be competing in Dallas at the end of February where Abbie will be hoping to continue her winning run.

Earlier this year, Abbie got her 2017 indoor US track season under way by winning the 800m race at the Holiday Inn Invitational Meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Cumbrian is on a four-year scholarship in America, similar to the scholarship fellow Cumbrian athlete Tom Farrell was on, also at Oklahoma State University.
