Rob Sim produced a magnificent break of 108 in the Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League as his Workington Golf Club drew 3-3 against the United Club.

It was a fantastic contribution that ended on the yellow (with a possible break of 135 on) and came in the first frame of the match.

In an up and down fixture, Sim’s break was followed by further contributions of 46 and 32 from Phil Sorfleet and Mark Brasted respectively as the golfers went 3-0 ahead.

This, however, proved to be the high point for the golf club side as the United Club came roaring back with victories from Mark Johnson, Tony Hindmoor and Andrew Mitchelhill to complete the draw.

The golf club remain third in Division One, with the United Club also third in Division Two.

A break of 48 by Flimby Social’s Kevin Kirkham enabled him to take his side into a 2-0 match lead against current Division One champions Station Road B.

A further contribution of 38 by team-mate Sal Cakmak looked like taking the Flimby side to 3-0 but, with a gritty performance from Station B’s Tony Elliott, he gave his team some hope.

This proved to be the start of Flimby’s demise as further victories from Shaun Ayre, Peter O’Hagan and Stephen O’Hagan took Station B to a 4-2 win.

Station B stay second in Division One with Flimby also second in Division Two.

Division One leaders Workington Cons travelled to take on fellow top tier opponents, Maryport Social and with a confident performance, they ran out 4-2 winners.

A runaway 4-0 lead, that saw Mike Park (32 break) and Alan Moore (35 and 32 breaks) both produce recordable contributions, was abruptly ended as Paul Lister and Andrew Henderson put some respectability in to the score line for Maryport Social and maintain their fourth place in the league.

Station Road A recorded their second win of the season as they defeated fellow Division One opponents Seaton Legion 4-2.

A 2-0 lead, thanks to a Peter Collins win from needing two snookers, put the Station Road A side in a healthy position.

As the next two frames were shared, Seaton still had a chance to pull off a draw, however with Paul Smith going in-off on the final black against Keith Telford in frame five, a Station A win was secured.

Seaton drop back down to the bottom of Division One with Station A swapping places with them moving into fifth.

Workington Legion against Aspatria’s Sun Inn was postponed in a mark of respect for Workington Legion player Daniel McMullen.
