Cockermouth boxer Alfie Poole moved on to a 5-0 record at the latest Clash of the Titans event in Workington.

Held in a marquee at Stainburn, the 21st COTT show saw a mixture of boxing and grappling on offer.

Poole headlined the boxing on offer and put on a show before defeating Newcastle's Jak Johnson via a referee's stoppage.

Poole took the centre of the cage right from the start and was landing his shots against a more experienced opponent.

As the first round passed its half way point, Poole landed a blow that his opponent checked with his hands and he reeled away.

After inspection by the medics the bout was stopped and Poole declared the winner.

The no-gi grappling competition was a first for the show and was competed for under submission only rules.

The competitors showcased some superb offensive and defensive jiu jitsu with local stand out MMA fighter Jordan Holmes emerging victorious in a final contested with Barry McCaul.

The fight of the night was arguably the contest between Jack Grierson of Hokushinko Fight Academy, Workington and Daniel Ennis Morton of Billy Dickos Gym, Whitehaven.

The two went toe-to-toe over three rounds of action packed fighting with both having their moments.

In the end it was the workrate of Grierson that caught the eye of the judges and earned the unanimous decision.

In local bouts, Dave Hodgson bested his brother Richard and emerged the champion of the Kieran "Skully" Poole memorial prizefighter,.

There was also an impressive debut for Kenny "Blue eyes" Riley who scored multiple knock downs in his bout with Karl Maguire before the referee stepped in and stopped the contest.

The next Clash of the Titans event will see a return to Workington's Carnegie Theatre on Saturday, December 9, with tickets going on sale soon.
