There were goals aplenty as West Cumbria Youth League returned at the weekend.

The Under-12s Blue division saw Whitehaven AFC Blues win 9-0 at home to Moor Row Blacks and Seaton United’s six goals cancelled out five from St Bees.

Both Whitehaven and Moor Row put on a great passing display, with teamwork to the fore.;

Although Amateurs dominated the game, Moor Row were very active in defence and continued to try and push forward but they could not seem to break through a solid Whitehaven defence.

In the second half there was more excitement with plenty more shots being fired at the Moor Row keeper but it was a grat game to kick the season off.

Dearham Rangers were 3-2 winners at home to Grassroad Sharks while Whitehaven Miners Social claimed a 9-2 win against Silloth Mini Gulls.

In the Red division, Cleator Moor Celtic Greens were on fire in an 8-2 win against Maryport and Workington Reds Blacks came out on top against Seaton Athletic, winning 3-0. Workington Reds Whites and Moor Row Reds drew 0-0.

Whitehaven AFC Yellows won 9-0 at Workington Reds Red team in their season opener.

Evan picked up two early goals before Logan McAvoy played a one-two with Seb. He then sent a ball over the top to find Kier who finished it off at the second attempt.

Evan then wrapped up his hat-trick getting Whitehaven’s fourth goal, putting it into the top right corner of the goal.

Seb fed Kier to get his second before Jack Hawley set up Logan whose shot hit the crossbar but he also won a penalty and then slotted it home.

Luke then made a great run down the wing and took a shot, it was halted but it fell to the feet of Leo who put it away.

Ethan then got his name on the scoresheet, by slotting the ball into the near corner before Bradley Keenan wrapped up the scoring with the ninth goal as he chipped the keeper.

The pick of the games in the Under-12s Girls division was a 5-5 between Moor Row and Workington Diamonds Red but Whitehaven AFC Whites beat their Blues side 5-1, Cockermouth got a 4-1 victory at Workington Diamonds Whites and Allerdale beat Maryport 2-0.

Seaton Athletic won 7-3 at Senhouse in the Under-13s division while Cleator Moor Celtic were 6-4 winners at home to Whitehaven Miners Social.

Whitehaven AFC Blues beat their Yellow team 7-1 and Workington Reds proved too strong for Cockermouth United in a 4-1 victory.

Maryport lost 6-1 at home to Windscale, while Seaton United triumphed 8-0 against Workington Wolves and Bransty Rangers’ four goals were beaten by St Bees’ eight.

Workington Wolves beat Whitehaven AFC Yellows 5-1 on Monday night while Whitehaven’s Blue side won 8-1 against Cockermouth United, St Bees pipped Senhouse 5-3 and Seaton Athletic lost 6-3 at home to Cleator Moor Celtic.

The Under-14s division brought 9-0 wins for Workington Rangers and Cleator Moor Celtic against Workington Reds Whites and Cockermouth Cougars respectively.

Maryport Athletic won 6-3 at home to Workington Reds Blacks, Senhouse lost 7-2 when they hosted Dearham Rangers and St Bees grabbed a 5-1 win against Windscale.

Only two games were played in the Under-14s Girls division but both were crackers as Workington Diamonds pipped Cockermouth 3-2 and Whitehaven AFC Blues overpowered Maryport 9-3.

In the Under-16s division, Bransty Rangers won 5-0 at Cockermouth Panthers under-15s and Cockermouth Lightning won 4-1 at home to Seaton under-15s.

Workington Reds under-15s were defeated 9-3 by Workington Wanderers Whites under-15s and Workington Reds Blacks got a 5-2 win at Cleator Moor Celtic.

Maryport Athletic scored seven without reply against Whitehaven Miners Social under-15s, Whitehaven AFC under-15s were edged 4-2 by Cleator Moor Celtic under-15s and Maryport under-15s beat Windscale under-15s 3-0 on the road.

Whitehaven AFC were the top scorers in the Under-18s division, putting nine past Moor Row under-17s with one goal in reply.

Maryport came close with a 6-0 win against Seaton and Workington Reds Blacks beat their White side 5-1. Cleator Moor Celtic were 2-1 winners at Cockermouth.
