Currock House Amateur Boxing Club's David Brown was involved at the Border City ABC show on Saturday, claiming a win.

He came up against Border City's Nathan Gillies in the final bout of the night in front of the sell-out crowd at the Crown & Mitre Hotel in Carlisle.

As the bell rang for the start of the first round, David started the quicker against his taller opponent, putting him on the back foot straight away.

David controlled the pace of the round and dominated the City boxer.

He then returned to his corner, back to father and son coaching partnership Gary Johnston Senior and Junior at the end of the first round, where he was given his instructions for the second round.

As the second round, started it was obvious David was too strong and quick for his opponent, catching him with some good solid combinations, which seemed to hurt his opponent countless times in the round.

And, when the bell sounded at the end of the third round, there was little doubt that the Currock House boxer had done enough to win the bout.

Coach Gary Johnston Senior said: "David has natural ability in abundance and we will keep him busy in the run up to the North West heavyweight belt contest, hopefully being contested in April alongside his club team-mate Scott Clarkson, who will box for the North West cruiserweight belt on the same show."
