Charles Shepherd will join Barry McGuigan and Robin Reid for an event in Lanzarote in May.

The event, which will take place on May 11, will see Shepherd meet and get the chance to talk to McGuigan, who is someone he has the highest admiration for.

McGuigan won Commonwealth Games gold at the tender age of just 17.

He took home the gold in Edmonton in 1978, after fighting in the Bantamweight division, before winning a world featherweight title later in his career.

But the 1985 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, who has been inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame and International Boxing Hall of Fame, has since also become a popular pundit for Sky. He was made an MBE in 1994.

Meanwhile, Reid won Olympic bronze in the Light middleweight division in the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Shepherd said: “Barry McGuigan is a legend.

“He has interviewed me a few times for Sky when he was a pundit for Sky but we can relax and have a few drinks and have a right good night.”

Shepherd will also be back at Catterick Racecourse on Tuesday, August 8 this year.
