Carlisle Villa Amateur Boxing Club continue to keep their boxers busy, attending three shows in three days last week.

With trips to North Shields, Liverpool and Greater Manchester, the club certainly have been putting in the miles.

On Thursday, Dean English boxed Peter Imeson from North Shields School of Boxing in a rematch of his bout on the Villa's boxing show the previous week, where Dean lost.

He was hoping to put this right and started really well from the first bell.

Dean never gave Imeson a look in, catching the young Geordie with body shots before landing some quality hooks and uppercuts.

Just as the round was coming to a close, there was a clash of heads and Imeson sustained a nasty cut to his forehead.

This was accidental, so the decision went to the scorecards where the judges awarded the bout to Carlisle's Dean.

Billy Miller and Tom Watson went to Liverpool on Friday afternoon to take part in Gemini ABC open show at Speke Community Centre.

Tom, 10, took part in a skills contest against Billy Hanson of the host club and boxed well against the Liverpool youngster, showing a great variety of punches for someone so young.

Billy was potentially in for a tough bout against unbeaten Leighton Maher. He started the bout cautiously but shaded the first.

Aware Villa boxers had been on the end of dubious decisions in Liverpool in the past, Billy was instructed to stamp his authority on the bout.

He carried out the instructions perfectly to take the second round clearly.

The Villa youngster got up off his stool early and came out throwing accurate combinations in the third with no reply from the young Scouser.

Billy switched his attack to the body, which had immediate effect as Maher slumped to the floor after receiving a blow to the stomach and received a standing eight count from the referee.

Billy continued his assault immediately after the restart and put Maher under severe pressure, which saw him hit the canvas once again.

The referee let Maher see the final few seconds of the bout out but there was only going to be one winner as Billy took the win on a split decision.

"Billy Miller and Tom Watson did the club proud competing on the Gemini ABC open show," said the Villa club on their Facebook page.

Daniel Yeomans was hoping to make it three wins in three days as he travelled down to Hyde, Great Manchester at only 24 hours notice to take on Ben Anderson from Bredbury Stockport ABC on their open show at Hyde Town Hall.

Although Daniel worked hard throughout the contest, he did get too close at times and failed to use his height and reach advantage.

The closely fought contest was brought to a close with Daniel pushing forward and clearly taking the third round but losing the contest on a split decision.

The club are on the road again this week with trips to Leigh, Maryport and County Durham.
