TV role for new Whitehaven RL coach Dave Woods

New boss Dave Woods will be in a prime position to boost Whitehaven’s profile next term as one of Premier Sports’ faces of rugby league.
The satellite broadcaster took over coverage of Championship RL action this term, with Woods one of the key summarisers.
And he believes the experience of watching Championship players perform every week will stand him in good stead with Haven next season.
“That’s what has been good about it. Knowing players and how they do things will help next year,” said Woods, who is happy to continue with his TV role. “I can’t see it being a problem, and hopefully we’ll get a few Whitehaven games on the telly.”
Woods will be at Warrington on Sunday, working for Premier Sports on Championships’ finals day. Egremont Rangers’ Conference Challenge Trophy final will not be shown live, though a highlights package will be broadcast.
And Woods will be casting his eye over the match as a summariser for BBC Radio Cumbria.
Egremont are underdogs against Leigh Miners Rangers but Woods is certainly not discounting the Cumbrians.
“It’s a final and a whole new ball game,” he said. “Anything could happen.” They need a good start and show what they are about. If they don’t make errors I’m sure they will acquit themselves well.”
