The youngster, a regular for Super League Harlequins’ second-string this year, holds a British passport so will not count on the overseas quota.

Coach Ged Stokes said today: “He was recommended to me by his agent, and I did some background work and I’ve seen some DVDs.

“He probably hasn’t had a chance at Harlequins due to import players coming in over the top of him.”

Skee, who is based permanently in the UK, was a guest of the club for Haven’s battling play-off defeat at Widnes two weeks ago and was impressed with the effort.

Stokes added: “He’s been over here half a dozen years but is still young and he fits our dynamic of the type of player we are trying to bring through over the next few years.

“He plays both sides of the field, has a good kicking game, is good defensively and with ball in hand.”

Skee’s Super League chances have been limited with talented trio Luke Dorn, Danny Orr and Luke Gale all challenging for half-back roles at Harlequins who narrowly missed out on the play-offs after a storming start to the campaign.
