On-loan prop Anthony Mullally is virtually certain to have played his last game for Whitehaven.

The 21-year-old, who made a big impression after joining Haven in June, after his relationship with Widnes turned sour following his decision to turn down the chance of staying with the Vikings, is set for minor knee surgery on Saturday.

“If he gets the clean-up now, recovery will take two to three weeks and I would say it’s unlikely he will appear for us again,” said Haven boss Don Gailer.

Mullally is to join Huddersfield Giants on a three-year deal next term and is looking forward to the move.

“Widnes weren’t happy with me moving on and said I had been badly advised but I think it is a great move, and I have to think of myself,” the Irish international said.

“Huddersfield are a top club and I think Paul Anderson can bring out the best in me.”
