Andy’s ready to face Leigh

NEW Whitehaven signing Andy Gorski reckons there would be no better time to break his Recre duck than on his Bank Holiday Monday home debut – against his home town club Leigh.

The 27-year-old back-rower joined Haven last week and went straight in to the squad to face Salford at The Willows.

And the ex-Rochdale skipper admitted he will not lack motivation if picked to face the Centurions.

“I have never won at Whitehaven in my entire career – playing for Salford, Rochdale and Halifax, and it would be nice to get one,” he said.

“I’d love to play against Leigh, my hometown club. It’s one of the biggest games of the season. A lot of ex-Rochdale players are at Leigh who are really good friends of mine.”

Gorski says he has no regrets about his move to Haven from high-flying Halifax.

“It just felt right. It felt like a good family club and everyone was very positive. I’m also very good friends with Simon Baldwin, and I know Duffy, Rob Jackson and Mick Nanyn who enjoyed it up there.”
