Whitehaven prop Teare banned for two games

Scott Teare’s season is over after the Whitehaven prop last night picked up a two-match ban following a second successive dismissal.
He was found guilty of committing a reckless tackle in the final league match of the season against Widnes at the Recreation Ground.
And even if Haven now reach the NL1 Grand Final, the 29-year-old will miss out. He is currently serving a two-match suspension after being red-carded in the closing seconds of the final away match of the league campaign at Leigh last month, and would have been ineligible to tackle Halifax on Sunday in any case.
“He’s got a pretty good disciplinary record and I’m very, very disappointed for the bloke,” said coach Ged Stokes, today.
He was sent off by top Super League ref Steve Ganson early in the second-half of the clash with Widnes.
The good news for Teare, out of contract at the end of the season, is that Haven want him to return next term.
After playing 23 times last term, the former Wath Brow Hornet struggled to break through in to the first-team early this year.
Under Stokes he made just two mid-season appearances before breaking back in to the team following a series of stand-out performances for the reserve-grade, making his mark in the last four League One games.
“He proved towards the end of the year that he can be quite a valuable asset to us,” Stokes said. “When he came in he did a job for us, and on that basis he’s been offered a contract.”
