Players must expect Haven war - Wigan chief

Brian Noble has warned that Whitehaven will be armed and dangerous against under-achieving Wigan in Monday’s night’s Carnegie Challenge Cup clash.

The Warriors boss admitted that he struggled to keep his cool after seeing Wigan hammered 57-16 by rivals St Helens in Cardiff last weekend.

And he is demanding a big improvement against the Cumbrians in the fifth round clash.

He said: “We were way off the mark against St Helens and part of that was because some of the players think they’re better than they really are.

“This had better be preying on their minds because I want the next performance be a whole lot better.

“I watched Whitehaven play Salford about a month ago and they’re a big team with decent players.

“They will be turning up armed with baseball bats and we underestimate them at our peril, because we if do, then it could be embarrassing all over again. We have to put things right.”

Noble wants to see improvements across the park against Haven and warned that a repeat of the performance against Saints would be unacceptable.

Noble said: “There’s a Yorkshire expression ‘that were rubbish’ and we were certainly that against St Helens.

“We’ve run out of excuses. There can’t be any more. We were all hurting after that Saints game, the players, the coaching staff and the fans.

“I struggled to be tempered and calm, but I just about managed it.”

Do you think that we will get any sun in September?

Of course! I haven't had a chance to use my BBQ yet

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. September has been nice in recent years

No chance. It's going to rain until next July
