Saturday's fixtures, with the exception of Rockcliffe and league leaders Braithwaite, were all completed despite the heavy rain earlier in the week making life very difficult for all ground staff.

Carlisle 2nds saw their hopes of winning the Eden Valley Premier League take a knock in a losing draw with Threlkeld. Batting first, Threlkeld (187/6) owed much to Sam Sharp (66) and Oliver Dunn (68).

Jordan Oultram (28) and Eddie Mitchell (41) got Carlisle (147/9) off to a good start but, thereafter, they collapsed and only a late flourish from Simon Plevin (25 not out) earned them their point.

Caldbeck moved a step closer to the top after winning at Stainton.

Put in to bat, Caldbeck were 189 all out with Rob Benn (88) and Ben Tickle (41) leading the way.

In reply, Stainton (147/10) found themselves in deep trouble at 46/6 but fought hard and went to the last over before losing their last wicket; Jon Greenwood (30), Martin Ruddick (27), John Welch (34) and Ben Clementon (26) scoring the bulk of the runs; Kevin Patterson (10-5-5-4) finished with astonishing figures for the visitors.

Temple Sowerby (204/7) were comfortable winners at home to Scotby with Lee Stockdale (72) and James Farmer (42) top-scorers for Sowerby and Dan Swann (4/35) best with the ball.

A James Farmer (4/40) hat-trick put Scotby (146/10) on the back foot but Dan Swann (40), Andy Teasdale (26) and Peter Gower Jr (14) gave them a respectable score.

In Division One, Wigton 2nds (156/6) had a good four-wicket victory over Wetheral (155/10). Chris Slack top-scored for Wetheral with 81 with Elliot Armstrong (4/49) and Stuart Ward (4/39) taking the bowling honours.

In reply, Wigton were in trouble until David Jackson (55 not out) and Scott Mulholland (51) came together to take the game away from Wetheral with Lee Hogarth (4/44) doing the early damage.

In Division Two, Lanercost 2nds (238/6), Craig Foster (97), Struan Kyle (43) and David Ferguson (39), put an end to Gamblesby’s recent good run. Gamblesby (167/9) never threatened, Luke Butler (97 not out) and Steven Hodgson (28) the only batters into double figures.

In the other game, Carleton defeated Penrith 3rds by 10 wickets.

Sunday’s fixtures featured two close games at Edenside – Nunwick (172/7) with Robbie White (77) posted a competitive total which proved too much for Carlisle 3rds (154/10).

Elsewhere, Kirkby Stephen (142/6) hung on to beat Staffield (137/6) by five runs in the Senior League Cup.

Caldbeck 2nds (121/6) beat Wigton 3rds (120/10) by four wickets. Carlisle 4ths (123/10) beat Temple Sowerby 2nds (113/10) by 10 runs in another tight game at Edenside. Irthing Vale (105/10) beat Nunwick 2nds (50/10); Andrew Hunter scoring 43 and taking 5/16 having a fine all-round match.
