QI’m a year 10 student and I want to know what activities there are that are suitable for my age group over the summer. I’d like to try something a little bit differentAThere are lots of different activities available throughout Carlisle Leisure for your age group.

If you are 13 and over you can start to use our gyms at Morton and Trinity on what we call our Teen Training programme.

You take part in an induction with one of our instructors who will you how to use the equipment safely. Once you’ve done this you can then use the gym whenever you want for just £3.30 a session during our dedicated session just for teen trainers during the week.

New this summer at Carlisle Pools is Skip & Hula, a great class for all ages using good, old-fashioned skipping ropes and hula hoops. This is a fun new session which you can also do yourself at home - a great way to keep fit!

You might also like to hire a squash or badminton court to try something a little different. Prices at The Sands start at just £4.95 off peak for badminton and £4.70 off peak for squash. You could get a few friends together and play against each other.

There are new hardcourts at Bitts Park if you like tennis. Get some friends together and enjoy an afternoon outdoors. You can hire rackets and balls for just £4.95 per court it’s a very inexpensive activity.

The par 3 golf course at Swifts is great for all ages and especially beginners to the world of golf. It’s the perfect place to start off and we can provide all the necessary equipment.

During September, Carlisle Leisure will be putting together a new guide for 12 to 18-year-olds which will give information about what activities are available for this age group across Carlisle. There will also be some focus group sessions held over the summer to talk about what is offered at our centres and to see if there is anything else we can offer.
