Kingsley Grandison has left Workington Reds due to work commitments.

But boss Derek Townsley says the door is open for the talented youngster to return to Borough Park.

Grandison has changed jobs and now works every Saturday, meaning he was unavailable to play in the majority of matches.

“Kingsley came to us and said he would no longer be able to play after changing jobs,” explained Townsley.

“But we have left the door open for him so he knows he is welcome back, if he wants to come and train or play with the reserves.

“At the end of the day he has left the club through his own choice but we understand that work is the bread and butter for these lads. It has to come first.”

Townsley is gearing his squad up for the biggest game of the season, at Ashton United tomorrow.

And he admitted he would be devastated for his players if they did not make the Evo-Stik premier division play-offs.

“They have put a lot into the season,” Townsley added.

“I don’t think people realise how much they put in, taking holidays and half days from work to be able to play.

“It is a big commitment for them and they are all very committed. I would be gutted for them because they do deserve some form of reward.

“If we don’t get that through the play-offs then it would be a real shame.

“But we are still we are going there with something still to play for which is the main thing.”

Anthony Wright should be back in contention for the trip to Ashton, after missing out in midweek.

Rob Wilson had to leave the field in the 2-0 defeat at Nantwich on Tuesday but he should also be ready to return.

And Townsley is waiting to see if striker Gareth Arnison will be well enough to come off the bench.
