The wedding of captain Grant Davidson means Penrith manager Jim Nichols will again have a selection headache this weekend.

Davidson has been missing from the Bonny Blues squad recently with a back injury - but will miss this afternoon’s game at home to Jarrow Roofing BCA (3pm kick-off) for a different reason.

Nichols said: “It’s Grant’s wedding now. I thought we had cleared that with the stag do but there is another four or five missing.

“So, we’ll have a look and see what we have got. It may be that we have to bring in one or two players – I have a couple in mind, and we’ll see what we have got and see where we go.

“But it will give lads who are on the fringe of the squad the chance to play.”

Among those who could be in contention for a return will be Matty Moynan.

Nichols added: “I felt a bit sorry for Matty. He picked up a knock on Saturday and he wasn’t quite fit [on Wednesday].

“He said he would have chanced it if we wanted but, having had bodies, I would have rather he was available for today.

“But, as I say, it will give lads a chance to play and hopefully they can step in and show what they can do.”

The sides are level on points in Northern League, Division One, but Penrith have five games in hand.

Nichols said: “They have been in really decent form, I think.

"They have won four out of their last six, so they seem to have picked up an awful lot of late. They have signed a couple of forwards. They have signed Dennis Knight, who is a very good player.

“But we don’t fear anybody and I don’t think we have any reason to. The players are playing with confidence, there is no pressure on them and we’ll have a go.

“There will be a lot of young lads in the starting line-up and it is a chance for them to show what they can do and that they are up to Northern League football.”
