Workington Town coach Phil Veivers believes his side's spirited performance against London Broncos back in February stands them in good stead for Sunday's reverse fixture (ko 3pm).

Bottom-of-the-table Town travel to the Trailfinders Sports Ground to face a Broncos side who are just three points off top spot.

In February's match, Town led the game 12-6 at one point after Jarrod Sammut struck a drop goal and scored two tries which were both converted by Carl Forber.

But the Broncos fought back to win 16-13 at the Zebras Claims Stadium.

Town were edged out by Whitehaven 28-24 at Bloomfield Road in the Summer Bash fixture last weekend.

Veivers said: "We're disappointed with how things went against Whitehaven and that's an understatement.

"The lads felt they were under-prepared and felt they didn't show up, but want to put a few wrongs right.

"We've set our targets pretty high and we go into this game with renewed confidence."

Veivers has an almost-full squad to choose from for Sunday's clash with Chris Murphy and Brett Phillips the only absentees through injury.

A win for Town would be their first since Saturday, May 14 when they beat the Sheffield Eagles and just their third of their league campaign.

The Broncos downed Sheffield 32-14 in their Summer Bash match last weekend and have won four of their last five fixtures.

Veivers added: "If we get a win confidence will go through the roof.

"The next three games are London, Leeds and Bradford and to get a win on Sunday would be massive going into the next two games."
