Two Carlisle City players were award winners at the club’s end-of-season presentation.

Michael Slack was named players’ player of the year and manager’s player of the year, while Ben Davidson was crowned the young player of the year at the event which took place last Saturday.

Carlisle City finished in 14th at the end of their inaugural season in the Hallmark Security League, First Division.

And Sky Blues boss James Tose felt last weekend’s event was a “fitting celebration”.

He said: “It was also a chance to talk about our first season in the Hallmark Security League.

“During the season, it is a bit relentless. But Saturday was a chance to reflect. There were so many positives to come out of the season.”

And Tose praised the two players who won awards.

“When I did my speech for Ben, I said he came in with quite a lot of vibrancy and energy,” the City manager said. “I think he was maybe trying a bit too hard to start with. He had six weeks out of the team but he didn’t throw in the towel, he came to us and said ‘what do I need to do?’.

“By the end of the season, he was one of the first names on the team sheet.”

On Slack’s performances this season, Tose added: “He is a seven or eight out of 10 all the time.

“He makes good decisions on the football pitch. He is a real threat from set-pieces. He defends well in all situations.

“For a quite quiet lad, he is very tough on the pitch. He certainly got better as the season went on.”
