REDS striker Matty Tymon says this afternoon's Northern Premier League play-off final against Salford is by far the biggest game of his career.

The 26-year-old is expected to figure in the match which could see Reds promoted back to the National League North.

Tymon tasted play-off heartache this time last season when Reds were beaten 1-0 at home by Ilkeston.

The forward made a late cameo in Tuesday night's 4-3 thriller against Blyth which saw his side book their final berth.

Tymon said: "I'm over the moon that we're in the final. It doesn't matter whether we'd have played one minute or 90 minutes on Tuesday as long as we made it through to Saturday.

"Tuesday was a weird game. We were by far the better team in the first half and we were unfortunate not to be two or three up by half-time.

"Scott Allison put us 3-1 up and they got back into the game by putting long balls into the box and then Rob got the winner.

"It was a magnificent game to watch and play in.

"Saturday is definitely the biggest game of my career as it will be for a lot of people.

"There should be a lot of fans there and from Salford as well. Hopefully we can go there and play how we've played in the last couple of games."

Scott Allison's hat-trick on Tuesday helped propel Reds into the final, but the game was heading for extra time before Rob Wilson struck late.

Reds have played Salford twice this season, both times in the league, and lost 4-1 at Borough Park and 5-3 at Moor Lane.

Salford are looking to make it back-to-back promotions having won the Northern Premier League Division One title last season with 15 wins in their last 17 games.

Last season was Tymon's first taste of professional play-off football and he hopes to be on the winning team tomorrow.

Tymon added: "It would mean quite a lot after what happened last year.

"Last year we were unfortunate not to win the league and people expected us to win in the play-offs.

"It would be massive to get promoted.

"When we went to play against them last time we went 2-0 down, but we showed determination and character to get it back to 2-2.

"Most of their goals came from silly mistakes by us and if we can cut them out we've got a big chance.

"It would be fantastic for me to score, but the most important thing is winning and everybody is looking to beat Salford.

"Last year we thought we had a big chance and this year we went to Blyth away and scored four against them and we go in with real confidence."

Salford have an almost fully fit squad to choose from for tomorrow.

Reds skipper Gari Rowntree won't play due to injury and long-term absentees Phil McLuckie and James Earl are still sidelined.

Kick off at Moor Lane is at 3pm.
