Kyle May believes he knows what to expect as Penrith AFC prepare to kick-off their calendar year at Seaham Red Star.

Player-manager May has already played at the Star's Ferguson Motor Repairs ground while he was at Shildon earlier this season.

Seaham are 12th in Northern League, Division One on 33 points, seven places and 11 points ahead of the Cumbrians ahead of this afternoon's clash (3pm kick-off).

And Workington Reds favourite May says he thinks Seaham will pose an attacking threat having won 4-1 against Washington last time out.

"They are in that little group that we hope we can catch-up with," May said. "They have a few decent players going forward.

"I have already played there with Shildon this season. I probably know what to expect.

"We are going to struggle with injuries which is a shame after the last few results."

The Bonny Blues had gone four weeks without a competitive fixture ahead of the festive period but played three matches in a week, taking seven points from three matches against Ashington, Bishop Auckland and Guisborough Town.

But Penrith will be without a number of players this weekend.

Strikers Andy Murray-Jones and Jonny Murray will certainly miss out, and long-serving defender Willy Paul is away. There are also doubts over the availability of Malcolm Holliday, Brandon Robertson, Ben Davidson and Shaun Gardner, according to May.

He added: "The team probably picks itself.

"But it does give other people a chance like Connor Shields who did well in the second half last Saturday.

"The problem is we have gone without a game for four weeks and then had three in a week.

"There is a lot of people ill, as well. On the other hand, we still have that spine of the team in Matty Moynan and Macca [Adam Main] in midfield with me and Grant Davidson at centre-half."

When the sides met in the league at Frenchfield Park in September, Seaham Red Star ran out 3-0 winners.
