Jim Nichols is currently enjoying home comforts at Penrith's Frenchfield Park along with his side.

The Bonny Blues have played at home three times in their last five fixtures.

And, following this Saturday's away trip to West Auckland Town, they are currently scheduled to have a further three games in a row at home to Northbank, Chester-Le-Street and Dunston UTS.

Penrith were once again in home action in the FA Vase on Saturday, as they beat Easington Colliery 3-1.

Nichols' men were a goal down to Colliery, who play in Northern League, Division Two, at half-time.

But goals from Tyler Bowman, Matthew Read and Andy Murray-Jones saw them progress to the second round.

And boss Nichols admitted it's much easier to get a squad together for home games, than it is for away fixtures.

"We would rather be playing at home than away," he said.

"It's always easier, being at home.

"It's easier getting the players to travel for 20 minutes or 30 minutes for a game, than for two or three hours around the country."

But Penrith will have to travel to Northern League rivals Newcastle Benfield in the next round of the FA Vase.

That tie is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 12.

Newcastle Benfield are currently in 12th position in the league table on 20 points from 14 league games, while Nichols' side are five points further back in 15th but with a game in hand.

Both sides met in the Bonny Blues' opening Northern League fixture this season in a 1-1 draw.

Surprisingly, Penrith are yet to draw in any of their seven league fixtures so far this term at Frenchfield Park and they have won just two of those, losing the other five.

But the club's home form in cup competitions has been much better.

Penrith have just a second free midweek of the season this week.
