Workington Sunday League has produced a limited number of goalless clashes over the years but there was one more for the total at the weekend.

Maryport Labour Club and Yankees Bar couldn’t be separated but neither side could fashion a winner in a tight contest, in which, defences were very much on top.

That wasn’t the case at Hall Park, though, where another Division One game saw Workington Grapes hammer nine past Borough Miners, while only conceding two.

Adam Cowen led the charge for the Grapes with a hat-trick while Daniel Storey scored twice.

The other goals came from Darren Heron, Mark Robertson, Paul Monkhouse and Steven Hopper. Andrew Bezusko and Jack Edmondson got Borough on the score-sheet.

Commercial were 3-0 winners against Sun Inn Athletic with Lee Sharp, Mark Mattocks and Joe Courtney finding the net.

League leaders Broughton were held again, this time 2-2 by Seaton Rangers.

Conner Hammell and Kyle Robinson-Murray were the home scorers with Jordan Swinburne netting twice for the Rangers.

The other scheduled game in Division One was called-off as Thomas Henry are still suspended by the Cumberland FA for non-payment of fines.

The top two sides in the Premier Division both won without conceding a goal.

Bluebell were successful 2-0 at Grasslot Welfare while Northside won 3-0 at Senhouse Street.

Ryan Connelly and Tom Powell netted for Bluebell with Jamie Glover, Jamie Bramley and Kurt Scott on target for Northside.

Sun Inn also won without conceding as they were successful at home to Millfield Miners with their three goals from Daryl Creighton, Kingsley Grandison and Damian McRae.

In the other game in the top flight, Voodoo were 7-2 winners at Dearham Commercial.

Gary O’Driscoll and Anthony Hilland both grabbed hat-tricks with Mike Kendall notching the other.

Darren Rule, Dearham’s regular scorer, netted both their goals.
