Workington Reds will be using a different formation ‘up top’ when the new Evo Stik season gets underway.

It follows a successful and exciting campaign which culminated in the club reaching the play off final and winning the County Cup at Brunton Park.

Subsequently the management team of Derek Townsley, Lee Andrews and David Hewson have reviewed their respective roles and proposed some changes, which the board of directors have approved.

Chairman Glenn Heathcote said: “Derek has been concerned about the number of games he has missed throughout the season which was more than he envisaged.

“That put more focus on the other two members of the team, so from next season, David and Lee will become joint managers with Derek assuming the title of general team manager.

“All three wish to emphasise that they are all fully committed to continuing the excitement and success of the last two seasons and this re-structure of titles will not have any effect on how the team is managed and coached.”

Reds management team is already heavily involved in re-shaping the squad for next season.

There are expected to be departures but they do have a number of targets which they have been pursuing since the season ended.
