In their third meeting in as many weeks, it was Flimby who came out on top, for the first time following a much improved display. The Vikings were helped by the return of four players who had been missing in the previous encounters.

Lowca took the lead after ten minutes with a lovely individual try from Stephen Hodgson who got the ball and raced down field to score. Callum Sirkett converted.

The next 20 minutes produced end to end stuff with some good running from both packs and tries going begging for Flimby. On two occasions the ball was knocked on over the line.

However it was Lowca who finally scored their second try on 27 minutes when, following a Flimby knock-on in their own half, the ball was scooped up by Dillon Corris who raced 65 yards for the four pointer.

The last 10 minutes of the half produced three more tries, two from the home side. The first came on 31 minutes, when Flimby’s 16-year-old Ethan Williams scored the first of his brace when straight from a play the ball he dived over the line from acting half back. Darren Pape converted.

On 36 minutes Lowca full-back Sirkett gathered a kick through to score and then straight from the re-start, Flimby produced a short kick off which was received by the returning Luke Grima. He charged over the line to score for the Vikings and Darren Pape added the extras for a 14-12 score-line at the break.

Into the second half and straight from the kick-off Flimby drove the ball down field and with the ball going through no less than five different pairs of hands, it was another returnee, Dave Torley, who finally crossed for the first try of his hat trick. Pape converted and Flimby were in front for the first time.

On 53 minutes, following some lovely flowing rugby down field, Luke Penrice was the last man and evading tackles crossed the line right under the posts for another six-pointer for the Vikings.

Lowca hit back on 64 minutes through winger Emmerson Allen and with Sirkett converting from the touchline it was 24-20 in Flimby's favour and game on.

Into the last ten minutes and it was Flimby who were sensing victory when Torley produced a lovely jinking run to score his second of the day. That was quickly followed by Ethan Williams completing his brace.

The final score of the afternoon came from Torley who completed his hat-trick on 78 minutes when he received a lovely long pass from Pape to cross the line unopposed. Pape converted.

Young Ethan Williams was named man of the match for Flimby with David Scott nominated for Lowca.

The other two teams in the top four met at Aspatria where Kells A came out on top 34-18.

Kells scored five tries in the first-half as they established a 24-6 lead by the interval.

Ryan Starkie, Mike Orr, Kieran Halcrow, Jordan Doran and Mike Orr touched down for the Whitehaven side. Jake Parker and Ryan Dorn converted one each. Brad Bough got over for the Aspatria try and Luke Johnson converted.

The second-half was much tighter with the scoring split 12-10 in Aspatria’s favour as Parker and Cameron Seeds added to the Kells total. Doran landed a conversion. Daryl Creighton scored two tries for the Hornets, both converted by Johnson.

There were plenty of points in the other two league games but both were pretty one-sided. Seaton A beat Great Clifton 58-0 while Egremont A were too strong for Broughton Red Rose, winning 80-16.
