Gosforth turned on the style in the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland League Division One, scoring 16 goals in two games as they breezed past Whitehaven Miners and Whitehaven AFC Reserves.

A 6-1 victory last Wednesday saw braces from Owen Woodburn and Greg Bedford, one each for Jack Denwood and Rhys Singleton, and Brad Glaister getting Miners’ consolation.

And on Saturday they romped home 10-3 against Whitehaven AFC Reserves with a hat-trick each for Greg Bedford and Jack Denwood.

Owen Woodburn, Jon Dunn and Rhys Singleton were also on the scoresheet for the victors, while Cai Docherty, Ethan Green and Dylan McAlone replied.

Crown Newlaithes and Unisun ground out a goalless draw.

Borough travelled to Crown Newlaithes and came away 4-1 victors with two from Liam McCullough and one each for Paul Halliday and Shaun Carter.

Underwood scored for Newlaithes.

In the Smurfit Kappa Premier League, an end-to-end battle saw Aspatria take all three points against Cockermouth last Tuesday, with the only goal coming from Malcolm Graham.

In the league’s other game, Netherhall travelled to Carlisle City on Saturday and ran out 3-0 winners with a brace of goals from Darren Rule and one from Ethan Weir.
