James Coyle is determined to leave Whitehaven with the club still playing in the Championship.

Coyle, who stands down after the final game of the season, insists he doesn’t want to leave with Haven heading towards Championship One next season.

As he prepares to take his Whitehaven side to Bradford tomorrow, Coyle has spoken of why he informed the club of his decision to stand down after two years in charge.

“I don’t think it would have been fair on my part to announce I was going right at the end of the season. I wanted the club to be able to move forward through knowing what I was thinking,” he said.

Coyle also suggested a name as a possible replacement as the board prepare their advertisement for the rugby league trade press on Monday.

“I don’t want to leave a job unfinished so having told the board of my plans I can get on with making sure we stay out of the relegation zone,” he said.

Whitehaven travel to Bradford tomorrow without one of their key strike backs Jessie Joe Parker, who is likely to be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Thomas Coyle is also doubtful through injury but with Dave Allen set to return from suspension his presence will be major fillip. Late decisions will be made on the fitness of louis Jouffret and Ryan Duffy, but signs are promising thy will be able to return.

Bradford coach Rohan Smith has confirmed that Dane Chisholm will make his debut for the Bulls in Sunday's must-win visit of Whitehaven.

The highly-rated half-back trained with his new team-mates for only the second time on Thursday but looks certain to be handed a starting role this weekend.

It is hoped the 26-year-old Australian's arrival will give Bradford a major boost as they bid to sneak into the Championship top four ahead of the middle eights.

"Dane will play against Whitehaven and it's good to have him here," said Smith.

"I've tracked his career since around 2008 and I coached against him when he was playing in the under-20s at Melbourne.

"I'm aware of what he is capable of and we fully expect Dane to play his style of game and fit in with the side we have, although we're not expecting too much from him too quickly.

"He's quick, has some great footwork and he backs himself, so we will be encouraging him to play what he sees and show what he can do,” he added.

If Bradford win and Halifax or Batley lose on Sunday, Smith's men will move back to within a point of the top four.

But on the injury front Mitch Clark is set for another fortnight on the sidelines and captain Adrian Purtell is "still a few weeks away", although Lee Gaskell could return against Oldham next week.
