Silsden will be the visitors to Carlisle City’s Gillford Park today – and Sky Blues boss James Tose is expecting a tough game.

West Yorkshire-based outfit Silsden have won both of their first two Hallmark Security League fixtures this season. So far, they have beaten Sandbach United (1-0) and AFC Blackpool (3-1) in the league.

And City manager Tose feels the Cobbydalers improved a lot last term after former Bradford City and Halifax Town man Danny Forrest took charge late in 2016.

“Their manager took over and they went on a really good run,” Tose said.

“Even when we played them - we lost 2-1 down at their place but beat them 2-1 at home - but I was really impressed with them.

“No doubt, their manager has probably added players he knows. They have won two out of two and I’m sure they will be on a high. But, sometimes, that can bring a little bit of complacency.”

Tose was hit with an early selection headache last Saturday with most of the club’s defenders unavailable as they fell to a 4-0 defeat at home to Chadderton.

“I was not too downbeat after Saturday’s game, to be honest,” the City boss admitted.

“Overall, it was probably our lack of defenders that contributed to how we defended. But goals change games and they scored their goals at the right times.

“We are just kind of having to muddle on.

“We might not get a settled side out for a few more weeks.”

But City did get off the mark in the Hallmark Security League on Monday, beating Nelson 4-0.

Tose added: “It was good to get the first three points on the board.”

Michael Slack is again unavailable due to his cricket commitments, while Michael Reed misses out through work commitments.

But Craig Benjamin and Jamie Heath should comeback for today’s match (3pm kick-off).
