Manager James Tose expects opponents Keswick to be "full of fight" when they host Carlisle City in the Cumberland Cup.

City will be looking to go one better in the cup competition this season, having reached the semi-final before they lost to Penrith on penalties at Frenchfield Park last time around.

Today (1.30pm kick-off), the Sky Blues will look to get past the Westmorland League, Division One leaders in the second round of the competition.

"In the County Cup, I'm sure Keswick will be full of fight," Tose said. "And, just like whenever you play against a local team, they will be trying to get one over us as higher-league opposition.

"Every game is a battle but, hopefully, we will be able to work towards getting everybody in the squad a start."

City had been due to face Atherton LR in the LWC Drinks First Division Cup, although the match was postponed twice during the week. Atherton's pitch failed an inspection on Tuesday and then again on Thursday, as the re-arranged game fell foul to the weather.

Instead, it has been scheduled for next Thursday although, before that, the Carlisle side will face the same opponents in the Macron Cup on Tuesday.

Silsden AFC will be City's next Hallmark Security League opponents, although that game is not until next Saturday.

The Sky Blues are currently ninth in the league after they beat FC Oswestry Town 2-1 last Saturday, courtesy of a Rob McCartney double.

Boss Tose has been pleased with McCartney's goal-scoring form this term, although he is keen to point out that it's a collective effort from the squad rather than just one player.

He said: "Rob is finding form. Another two goals takes him on to eight for the season, which is not bad from a bit of a wide role.

"He's certainly a goal threat. He gets in good positions and he got two more [on Saturday], and he probably should have had four.

"But I don't like singling out people after a really good team performance. There is still more to come from us."
