In-form Ashley Nadesan admits it is time Carlisle United made Brunton Park a place other teams fear again.

The Blues host Morecambe today aiming to end a run of three straight defeats without scoring.

An improvement in their home fortunes would help John Sheridan’s side build on their much stronger recent away results in League Two.

Loan striker Nadesan, who has scored in the Blues’ last two games, says getting points on the board at their own stadium is all important.

“All the lads know about the home form, and we do need to improve on it,” the Fleetwood man said. “At the beginning of the season we were ok and had a little unbeaten run at home.

“We need to try and make Brunton Park a fortress, make other teams worried about coming here, instead of us being afraid we haven’t got the home form we need.”

The Blues need to end a bizarre sequence against the Shrimps this afternoon. United and Morecambe have faced each other 10 times in league games - and the home side has never won. There have been six draws and four away victories.

Nadesan, meanwhile, says he is enjoying the extra responsibility of leading United’s line. The 24-year-old has shouldered the burden with Richie Bennett having been out injured, while Hallam Hope is on international duty.

After scoring against Oldham and Sunderland since last weekend, taking his tally to four, he said: “Tuesday night was the first first-half goal I’ve scored since I’ve been at Carlisle.

“It gives me a little bit of confidence, as does that bit of faith from the gaffer.

“I’m happy to show feet, to try and hold it up, run the channels, try and bring other players into play, and put in a shift for the team.

“The gaffer has spoken to me and said hopefully I can get 10 before Christmas, but as long as we keep getting three points it doesn’t matter who scores.”

On today’s 20th-placed opponents, he added: “Morecambe have picked up some good results recently to make their way up the table, but nothing but three points in the bag is what we need.

“On Tuesday we didn’t get the best of starts, and had to make our way back into it. This time we need to be composed, try and take our chances and put the game to bed.”

Defender Anthony Gerrard must sit the game out having been given a one-match ban and fined £400 for misconduct following an incident in Carlisle's win at Bury last month.

Bennett (groin) is close to a return while Jamie Devitt (shin) and Danny Grainger (calf) are still out. Adam Campbell may be denied permission to face his parent club.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley, meanwhile, has a host of injury concerns.

James Sinclair, Andy Fleming and Alex Kenyon have all had operations while Steven Old, Vadaine Oliver, Aaron Wildig, Kevin Ellison and Zak Mills are doubts.

Bentley said: “I’ll be looking over what we have available so we’ll have a chat and do what we can do.

"Carlisle are in decent form in the league and it’s always a big game going up there."
