Kyle May will be back in the Workington Reds squad this afternoon as they look to boost confidence with a win at home to Witton Albion.

Reds are hoping to put Wednesday’s FA Cup exit behind them and get their league campaign back on track on what could be an emotional afternoon at Borough Park.

There will be a minute’s applause at the start of the match in memory of former Reds skipper Tony Hopper who died earlier this week.

Niall Cowperthwaite will miss the game but May can come back into the squad, after being cup tied for the midweek clash and unable to feature.

Joint manager Dave Hewson says a win is desperately needed to boost his squad and begin their climb back up the league ladder.

“We just have to take one game at a time,” said Hewson. “We have to try and put that defeat on Wednesday behind us now and move on.

“We need to be positive from the start and try to pick up a very important three points.

“I want these points for the players, they need a performance for themselves individually and collectively as a whole.

“We are crying out for three points and I firmly believe once we get them, we can push on and get more.

“When confidence is low and things are going against you, it feels like everything is against you.

“But we will stick together, stay positive and get back on track.”

Hewson rates visitors Witton highly and thinks they are in for a tough encounter at Borough Park.

“They are a well organised outfit with very good personnel for this league,” said Hewson. “The play this league exactly how it needs to be played.

“They have the right blend of footballing quality and can do the nitty gritty stuff that’s required.

“I hold them in high regard and they are well respected, we know we are going up against a tough side.”

Reds will be taking part in Non-League Day today with some special deals. Entrance is £10 adults, £5 concessions, youths £1 and children Under-12 are free, as long as they with an adult.
