Carlisle United will salute the memory of Tony Hopper on an emotional afternoon at Brunton Park tomorrow.

A minute’s applause will be held before the game against Morecambe while the Blues’ matchday programme is in tribute to the hugely popular Cumbrian midfielder, who died this week.

United’s programme cover features an image of Hopper embracing team-mate Paul Murray, taken at the charity match held in the 42-year-old’s honour last year.

All profits from the programme will be donated to Eden Valley Hospice, who cared for Hopper in the final stages of his life before he passed away from motor neurone disease on Tuesday night.

Printers H&H Reeds have waived their usual production costs to United.

Murray, Carlisle’s first-team coach, said: “Tony was a good pro, a grafter and whatever he was doing, he was always smiling.”

The programme, which will also include an interview with Hopper that the club originally published last year, is on sale at the club's ticket office and Blues Store until 5pm today, and will also be available from 10am on Saturday.
