Richie Bennett and Jamie Devitt remain Carlisle United's main injury concerns ahead of tomorrow's clash with Oldham.

Striker Bennett missed Tuesday's defeat to Grimsby with a groin injury and has since had a scan.

Midfielder Devitt, meanwhile, limped out of that game with a shin problem.

Both are continuing to be assessed. United had last night not yet confirmed the extent of their respective injuries.

Should Bennett also miss out on the Boundary Park trip it would be a particular blow to an Oldham-born player who started out in the Latics' youth set-up.

Loan midfielder Regan Slater made his second start of the league campaign in Bennett's absence on Tuesday and could be eyeing another outing.

Adam Campbell and George Glendon will also be hoping for starts as manager John Sheridan's squad is further stretched.

Carlisle's youth team, who were beaten 4-0 by Morecambe on Tuesday, are back in action tomorrow against Bury in the Youth Alliance Cup.

*Former United boss Keith Curle says he wants to lead struggling Northampton to promotion once he has turned around their form at the wrong end of League Two.

Curle, whose second game in charge of the Cobblers sees a trip to Swindon following Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Bury, said: "I took on board another fantastic club in Carlisle United in a similar situation.

"It was on the back of a relegation and they were four points adrift at the bottom of the league and we did enough to stay up in that first season.

"We then had three top-10 finishes and one play-off finish and then there was a change of direction at the club which didn’t suit myself, but I want to be operating at the top end of the division and I want to get out of it."
