Workington Town are ringing some changes ahead of their trip to Doncaster tomorrow for the final game of the League One season.

The outcome of the game will not affect the final table, with the two sides already guaranteed play-off slots.

And Town are using the match to give some players more game time and rest others, who have been nursing knocks.

“A couple of the lads have been struggling for the last two to three weeks with niggles so, if we can get them rested to head into next week’s play-off game fresh, then we will do that,” said Town assistant coach Craig McDowell.

“But we do have a small squad and we will have to go with who we have available.

“Perry Singleton won’t play and we will be lucky if we see him before the end of the season. He has a brace on his elbow and is due to go for a scan.

“Stevie Scholey has also took a bang while Ollie Wilkes went off last week with a concussion and has been struggling a bit.

"Over the last few weeks, Jamie Doran has had a few twinges so we may rest him as well.”

Gordon and Kurt Maudling are set to get more game time, with Jake Moore also set to return after a four-week absence due to a hamstring problem.

John Patrick is also back in the squad after a long-standing problem.

“We have named a 19-man squad but we still have to assess the players as it might have to change,” added McDowell.

“We are going into this game open-minded. We can’t drop out of fourth place so we know we will be back at Doncaster next week in the play-offs.

“We are going there with an open mind and we want to put on a show but we will have to see what Doncaster do, if they rest players or are struggling with injuries. We don’t know what kind of squad they will put out.

“It is unfortunate that the fixtures have fell like this and we have to travel to Doncaster twice on the trot but we see this week as trial and error. We will see what they throw at us and, likewise, I'm sure they will be sizing us up.

“Hopefully, we can get something out of the game.

"If we can get a win, it sets us up nicely for the next game and if we don’t, we will be pushing even harder in the next fixture.

“Our priority is that semi-final and trying to get to the final.”
