Their season had opened on Saturday with an encouraging 0-0 draw at AFC Blackpool following their promotion from the Wearside League.
A new coaching partnership of John George and Craig Routledge would be happy enough to start with an away draw, but in fact they could, and probably should, have won the game.
The first ten minutes were even with Stuart Shaw shooting over for Celtic while their goalkeeper Craig Devine saved superbly from Carnen Dawson at the expense of a corner.
Shaw hit a free-kick into the Blackpool wall and he skied the rebound out of the ground while both Rhys Little and Tom Mahone saw chances go wide.
Blackpool had a long throw expert but the Celtic back four held firm and dealt well with the threat,
There were efforts at both ends in the second-half with more of them from Celtic but they were denied by Blackpool’s man of the match, keeper Alex Cameron.
Celtic finished the stronger of the two sides and their man of the match Jamie Glover thought he had won it but Cameron made a superb save.
Substitute Adam Meagan looked as though he was going to nick the points but what seemed a bizarre off-side decision halted his run.
After tonight’s game (kick-off 8pm) Celtic follow-up with another home game on Saturday against Nelson.
