A housebuilder's development in West Cumbria has won a prestigious industry award.

Story Homes' Strawberry Grange site in Cockermouth has clinched the UK Property Awards' title of Best Residential Development in Cumbria.

Now in their 26th year, the UK Property Awards are renowned as the most demanding and rigorous in the property sector. The awards are judged by an independent panel of 70 industry experts, with judging focusing on design, quality, service, innovation, originality, and commitment to sustainability.

Ian Storey, managing director for Story Homes in Cumbria and south Scotland, said: “Strawberry Grange is one of three developments across the business that have been recognised by the UK Property Awards.

“We take great pride in achieving the highest standards in our work, from the overall design of a development through to the individual finishing on each property, and this win really demonstrates how dedicated all of our colleagues are to this.”

The development was designed to blend into the historic market town which is adjacent to the Lake District National Park that has recently been granted World Heritage Site status.

The community of 320 new homes is made up of 14 different house types. Once complete it will provide up to 128 affordable homes, which makes up to 40% of the site, providing homes for local people to rent or buy at less than market value to meet local housing need.

Story Homes will find out if it has won the national award from the UK Property Awards at the end of October.
