David Edmondson struck lucky when he went looking for a new home as he came across this village property which needed a lot of TLC - and David is a buy-to-let investor alongside the day job.

He and his wife Sarah set about transforming the Victorian-built house into the warm, comfortable and welcoming home it is now, with a large living room, modern kitchen and three bathrooms.

It even has two staircases, one for the sole use of David's mum Giovanna who lives with them, and who has the left-hand side of the property. It has her own sitting room and en-suite bedroom and the family share the kitchen.

David said: "I'm from West Yorkshire originally and when Sarah and I had our little girl Scarlett, who is now four, we didn't want to stay there so we relocated.

"That was in August 2016 and the house that came up was in the right price for us because we needed somewhere for my mother.

"The place has been totally renovated since we moved in. I've bought two houses, done them up and rented them out as a sideline - my job is a delivery team manager for a pharmacy - so this was a good find.

"We found a can of beer in the fridge dated 2004 so I don't think it had been lived in since then. But we've totally refurbished it with a new kitchen, three new bathrooms - two en-suites and the family bathroom - a wood-burning stove in my mum's side of the house and a new kitchen.

"The house already had double glazing and central heating, and a log-burner in our sitting room so it's lovely and warm."

The sitting room, which is David's favourite spot, is the heart of the home with the toasty stove and exposed wooden beams.

A dining room is adjacent with the kitchen over the hallway and a conservatory on the end - "This is basically Scarlett's playroom," David said. "It is full of toys."

Including Giovanna's bedroom there are four double bedrooms, two of them en-suite, a fifth bedroom/study and the family bathroom.

Outside is a large low-maintenance garden, a detached double garage and parking.

The Edmondsons want to return to Yorkshire, the north this time, to be closer to family and friends. "We'll miss the house though,"David said. "It's lovely, but a new chapter in our lives is about to start."

The family house in Scotby Village, Scotby, is for sale at £369,000 from Hayward Tod. For more details see here .
