Northern-based housebuilder Gleeson Homes has opened a new office in Cumbria which will coordinate operations on its planned new homes developments across the county.

The opening of the Penrith office comes as the housebuilder has agreed legal terms and is progressing a number of planning applications to build new homes on development sites in Cumbria.

Senior land manager John Blue, who will oversee the Penrith office, said: “Gleeson homes are priced to suit first-time buyers, helping them quit the rent trap and get on to the property ladder.

"We already have more than 50 developments across the north of England and often see buyers queuing from dawn to reserve their chosen home as soon as it’s available to buy.

"We are now delighted to be bringing our popular range of two, three and four-bed homes to Cumbria and offering local buyers, who have often been priced out of the market, a spacious home they can afford to buy.”

Gleeson offers a range of schemes to help get buyers moving including the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme plus its own Save & Build scheme which allows buyers to reserve a home at a fixed price without a deposit and save while Gleeson builds their new house.
Regional director Ed Alder said: “We are in the process of obtaining planning on two development sites in Cumbria, the first in Longtown and the second on the outskirts of Carlisle.

"Once we obtain permission on each site, we will be implementing our Community Matters programme. Through this scheme we help the community by employing local people and subcontractors, sponsoring local junior sports teams, working with local schools and offering construction apprenticeships to local young people.”
