Penrith 1 Carlisle United XI 1: Northern League outfit Penrith continued their pre-season build up a 1-1 draw against a Carlisle United XI at Frenchfields.
Manager Brian Williams was satisfied with the performance.
“I cannot fault the efforts of all players and in particular the so-called veterans Willy Paul and Martin Strong whose performances in the first two friendlies have been exemplary.
“The goal scored by Andy Murray-Jones is one we have worked on and it is always rewarding to see it work,” he added.
“This and the coming friendlies will allow us to get more shape into the team as we have to be up and running with the first fixture being an FA cup game.
“Match practice is all-important and five of this seasons trialists will get a run out with our reserves on Thursday against Wetheriggs.
“It is so important for the club to integrate further with our reserves ably run by Alan Parkin. I believe this could prove vital with a long season ahead.”
