They’re taking all the best stuff!

Some visitors to the News & Star website are unhappy that 140 Cumbria police officers will be working in London during the Olympics.
Now comes news that another key part of Cumbrian life is heading for the capital this summer.
A model of Peter Rabbit, from the World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness-on-Windermere, will sail down the Thames next Sunday as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Peter will be on one of 1,000 boats gathered in celebration of the jubilee.
There is no word yet on whether the boat behind Peter’s will feature an angry Mr McGregor in hot pursuit.
So London is getting our police and our favourite children’s character.
Is there anything they won’t take from Cumbria?
Nuclear waste, perhaps.
