Hail mighty... er... Adrian?

The Emperor Adrian – head of the Roman Empire and builder of Adrian’s Wall.

Who? Hadrian? Sorry, there seems to have been some kind of mix-up.

A reader has brought Reiver’s attention to the Google Maps website, which allows users to see a street map of any part of the UK.

It’s a very useful tool. But Google has dropped an ‘H’ in the Solway village of Anthorn.

Anthorn has a street called Hadrian’s Avenue.

But on Google Maps, and its companion site Google Street View, Hadrian’s Avenue has become Adrian’s Avenue.

So has Google slipped up, or does it know something the rest of us don’t?

All rise for the mighty Adrian.
