People on the Ewanrigg and Netherton estates in Maryport have written and starred in a short film about life in the area.

The film premiered at the local community centre on Saturday.

The man behind the project is storyteller and community theatre specialist Ian Douglas.

Ian named the film Calling All The Heroes. He chose the title of Egremont band It Bites’ biggest hit in celebration of the locals who give their time for others. If Ian’s hearing had been a little less acute, he might have called the film Colin’s Old Libido.

Calling All The Heroes is featured on several websites celebrating misheard lyrics.

The lyrics written by It Bites are:

Calling all the heroes, They’re shooting up the town, boys.

And the misheard versions include:

Colin’s old libido, Shooting up the towel, boy.

Later in the song, It Bites singer Francis Dunnery sings:

High on a mountain, the men looked below, Cooked up a plan that would outwit their foe.

Or if you prefer:
