The thrill of the chase

There's good and bad news on the mouse front at Green Towers.

After failing miserably to catch the varmint with a ‘humane’ trap, I invested a few quid in the traditional snappy trappy type that take no prisoners and take your fingers off if you get too close.

After suffering a self-inflicted snap, I carefully laid them out, only for Mrs Green to sabotage my plans and lay out the old trap as well – which actually caught the beast!

So Jerry has now relocated to a trendy detached hedge with lovely views over the Northern Fells, and I’ve got my skirting board to repair with woodfiller.

I’ve also got to order a turkey as we’ll not be cooking well-stuffed mouse this Christmas.

More seriously, I’d like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and a wonderful – and mouse-free – 2012.
