Closure needed on holidays

THE police have closed Botchergate as a safety measure on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Surely therefore, they should close the area on each Sunday before a Bank Holiday, based on the very real need to do so for safety, as these are usually very busy times.
As a taxi driver, I am well aware of the dangers of people stepping out in front of vehicles.
Botchergate, before the present changes, was a place to be especially vigilant even though people knew vehicles were passing by.
Since this temporary closure experiment, they are less aware.
On Easter Sunday it was more dangerous and very noticeable that people expected the road to be closed over the whole weekend.
I trust the police will act on the grounds of public safety and close the area on Sundays preceding a Bank Holiday.
