Springwatch
Spring really is my favourite time of the year!
Good morning! After what seems like an eternity, and is, in fact, a couple of months, I have finally moved to my new blog site!
There are a few reasons why it has taken so long, but I won’t bore you with them; hopefully now I am here, I can pick up from my old one, which hasn’t seen any activity in a while either.
So, here we are at the end of May: Spring is always my favourite time of year, and as I sit typing, I am pleasantly distracted by birds outside bringing their young to the garden and / or feeders and the young are fluttering their wings, demanding (and getting) food.
So far, I have seen blackbirds, siskins, house sparrows and dunnock babies and hope to see others: starling, greenfinch, great spotted woodpecker and jackdaw, if previous years are to go by. Whatever comes though, I simply enjoy watching them.
The feeders themselves do have other birds apart from the ones I mention already: goldfinch, chaffinch, rooks and carrion crow (the crows being new this year, having arrived during the depths of the winter we had).
Tying in with watching the birds, along comes one of my favourite bbc programmes on Spring Bank Monday: 3 weeks of Springwatch: I can’t wait!
