Put Des out of his misery

IT was never going to be everybody’s cup of tea – but who could have imagined it wouldn’t be Des Lynam’s?
Sport Mastermind (BBC2 Wednesday) is unashamedly one for sporting anoraks, Trivial Pursuit players and dinner party bores.
Not a minute of it is sullied with the fun and frivolity of Sue Barker’s A Question of Sport (BBC1) – whose uncensored compilation of post-watershed clips on Thursday was a marvellous hilarious hoot.
No jokes here though. Barely a smile is raised. But the most pressing worry concerns the uncharacteristically po-faced, monotoned Des Lynam.
He’s clearly not a happy sporting bunny. Won’t someone put him out of his misery?
